CEAGE conducts trainings in specialized topics targeted at utilities and energy companies. Listed below are some of the Trainings given by ARI and CEAGE.

Some of the training conducted at CEAGE included topics on renewable energy, microgrids, smart grid, building energy managment and electric distribution system management and efficiency improvement.

 

Teaching

CEAGE’s director, Professor Saifur Rahman, also teaches a popular, senior and graduate level course on Alternative Energy Systems which is given annually at Virginia Tech during Spring semesters.

 

ECE4364/5374G

The course deals with electric energy from alternative energy sources including solar, wind, hydro, biomass, geothermal and ocean. Course includes:

  • Life cycle costing and cost benefit analysis of energy systems
  • Characteristics of direct conversion, electromechanical conversion, and storage devices used in alternative energy systems
  • Power system issues associated with integration of small-scale energy sources into the electricity grid
